Little Sister is my first DCI Jonah Sheens book, but I've got the author's other three signed and dedicated, still on my TBR pile.
The story begins with Det. Jonah having a drink at a garden pub with his newborn Milly when a girl comes out of the woods covered in blood, now that's a great start!!. We find she's called Keely, and she's on the run with her sister Nina from their foster home. She won't divulge her sister's location until she tells her extraordinary story.
It's a story about two sisters from a broken home straight to a broken foster home system, which sadly in reality is the same as in real life. Too many reports on the news about foster parents' neglect and abuse.
It's a gripping read full of twists, but I found it a slow burner at first until Keely starts her story, and then it gets interesting. Is there a psychopath in the making here?. As Keely isn't all that cracked up to be. The race is on to find her sister Nina. I was rooting for Jonah and his team to find the bad guys, but are they really the good ones?.
There's also the relationship between Jonah and his wife Michelle which as you will gather there are only a few snippets here as it all starts from book 1, (Which I shall bump up the TBR pile).
Overall an intense, exciting read which I highly recommend
